Waterloo Ontario, named for the Battle of Waterloo, has been a center of business and development for quite some time. Formerly recognized for its high concentration of insurance companies, Waterloo is now known as a center for technology and research. With such internationally recognized companies such as Google, McAfee, Oracle, and Research in Motion (manufacturers of the well loved Blackberry) doing business in the city, hotels Waterloo are kept busy hosting executives throughout the year.
The city of Waterloo is also well known for hosting numerous fairs and festivals over the course of the year. Hotels Waterloo operate at capacity in October during the 2nd largest Octoberfest, the Kitchener-Waterloo Octoberfest. The Royal Medieval Faire in September, featuring falconry, magicians, harp musicians, and belly dancers is a very popular event. The Ice Dogs Festival in February and the World Religious Conference held during October and November are also well attended events.
